Upturned In Everest is out now. Friends, I hope you love it. http://hyperurl.co/cbyxir
This is my favorite of all the albums I have made. After a long period of what some might call burnout (I'd call it exhaustion), these songs came in an electric flash and shot into my instruments and moved though my fingers and voice like a crystalline blaze. The entire album revealed itself to me, and so I got to work.
With the crucial help from some friends, I built these songs with my bare hands in a shed in the woods. The entire thing: the songs, this life, feels like a dream. Sometimes frightening, usually confusing, pretty hilarious, and perfectly bittersweet. I feel so lucky to be here and I dedicate this album to those who were never able to stick around and finish their work. May they live on through their art and in our loving memories.
It doesn't matter if we still believe in the album as an artform. For those of us who grew up with this medium, it is, simply, a fact of our lives. And sure as I am standing here before you, heart wide open yet again, facts matter.
I, alive, stay busy here, signing this your way.
